Chelsea have agreed a £40m fee with Arsenal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The 24-year-old was recently in action against Liverpool where the Gunners lost 4-0
The Ox, 24, now has to discuss personal terms with Antonio Conte’s Blues.
And the Italian boss must persuade him that joining his Premier League champions is the right move for him.
But their offer of £35m now and £5m in add-ons has given them the edge over their Scouse rivals ahead of Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract next summer and rejected an offer of £180,000-a-week to stay at the Emirates.
Arsenal were crushed 4-0 at Liverpool on Sunday and boss Jurgen Klopp believes he can get the best out of the frustrated midfielder and place him at the heart of his team.
Gunners insiders claim the club would prefer to do business with Chelsea rather than Liverpool because of the fallout over their Luis Suarez bid

Chelsea to continue talks over Danny Drinkwater with Leicester

Chelsea will   continue negotiations with Leicester City over their bid for Danny Drinkwater which could cost them more than £30 million . The Premier League champions have offered £25m for Drinkwater but the two clubs's valuations are still too far apart for agreement and Leicester are understood to want something approaching £40m. Chelsea remain hopeful that a deal can be struck in the next few days and believe Leicester are only delaying a sale while they search for a replacement. It is understood that Drinkwater is interested in the move. Chelsea are also keen on Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, Everton's Ross Barkley and  Swansea's Fernando Llorente  and Antonio Conte made a fresh call for signings after Sunday's 2-0 victory over Ronald Koeman's team. Everton are hoping to agree a deal worth about £10m for Hajduk Split's teenage forward Nikola Vlasic. The 19-year-old is a Croatia Under-21 international and can play in both midfield and attack. He impressed Everton manager Ronald Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh in their recent Europa League qualifying tie with Hajduk. Koeman is intent on signing a high-profile striker and left-sided defender before Thursday's transfer deadline.
